American Flag Project

The American flag is the symbol of patriotism in the U.S. This series examines that patriotism while asking who does it include or exclude? Answering this question is what formed this body of work. Road trips across the country from New York to California have lead me to some surprising and unexpected imagery that included the flag. This series, that began in 2009, helped me gain a clearer understanding of American patriotism.
